Zombie Computer: Dead Again

By Jill Christine | August 6, 2009

I’ve gotten a few questions about the status of this year’s Halloween line and the reopening date for Mint Conspiracy, so I thought I’d address both issues here. As of now, the official date is still up in the air, and I may have to push it from late August to early September. If you’ve known me or followed Mint Conspiracy for a while, you might remember when Rupert, my desktop PC, had to be nuked and brought back to life (zombie computer!) early last year. Despite the precautions I take online, Zombie Rupert caught another nasty virus last week, apparently due to a drive-by download from an infected website. Or maybe it’s swine flu. I am about ready to shoot Zombie Rupert in the head, I tell you what.

Infect me once, shame on you. Infect me twice, shame on me. I’ll be buying a Macbook in the next few weeks, and no more Mint Conspiracy business will be conducted via PC. While I realize Macs technically aren’t immune to viruses, I’ll still be a lot more secure than I am now. This is getting a little ridiculous.

(Oh yeah, here I go, getting sucked into Apple-land after resisting for so long. Next I’ll be wanting an iPod instead of my shoddy old 256mb SanDisk mp3 player that gobbles batteries like nobody’s business, y’all. Oh noes.)

Anyway, my ftp and graphics programs are all on the dead-again desktop; since I’m exclusively on my laptop PC for now, I can’t get anything done until I settle down with a Macbook. As soon as that happens, I’ll announce a reopening date for the shop. I’m really looking forward to posting this year’s Halloween designs, so that’s going to happen as soon as it possibly can.

  1. Poor Rupert. :( When my old IBM ThinkPad, Pibby, got a blue screen I switched to Mac and my MacBook Pro, Lara, is fabulous. Good luck with your computer…..and ipods are so not evil because they are so easy to function it’s crazy. Even Mo could do it. :D
